Merry Christmas To All!!

I hope that everyone had the best Christmas!  I  have to admit I have had no Christmas spirit at all this year, I was very discouraged at home commerical Christmas had become and was disappointed in how my children had lost sight of what was really important.  Christmas not only lost the meaning for me with my children but I was having a hard time with some family members that had developed the "me" attitude and had forgotten that Christmas is supposed to be about family.  So I had a hard time figuring out what to buy everyone, I had a hard time shopping which for me is a big deal.  I didn't do any Christmas baking, I didn't decorate any more than I had to...I just couldn't get into it.  Nathan said that he didn't feel any Christmas spirit in our home this year.

Well today things changed, even though Ariel had the flu :( and I wasn't feeling that great the day was much better than I had anticipated.  We cut back on the number of gifts we gave our kids this year so it didn't take a lot of time to get through the gifts but the kids didn't seem to care.  Connor and Brittany were so excited and even though Connor didn't understand all the gifts he got he couldn't wait to get into them.  Everyone seemed to love their gifts even though there were fewer than in previous years.  We were all on the same page as gifts went as well as Nathan bought the same gift for me as I got him so I guess we will be watching Bones together.

So my husband spoiled me rotten as he usually does at Christmas.  I got a Canon Rebel XSi ... I already had a Canon Powershot S3IS and was very happy with it but I think my son has droppped it or something as it doesn't seem to taking as good of pictures of it used to and I was saying that soon we would have to upgrade.  Then I was saying that I would like to have a little camera to put in my purse so I could make sure I don't miss those shots that you don't have the bigger camera for...well he bought me a bigger camera, that I have to change lenses and actually have to know what I am doing to take pictures...but I am very happy.  So I have spent the majority of the day reading the book and trying all the things in the book and let me say I am no smarter than I was yesterday but I am looking forward to seeing what I can come up with.

So here is a couple of my favourite shots from my "playing" today...nothing spectacular but like I said I still haven't figured out how the camera works yet...now that I have an amazing camera maybe I can become an amazing photographer :)

These two are my best subjects...Brittany will pose for anything, and some times I can get Connor to agree to some shots.

Normally I can get Ariel to pose but I guess I will I have to give her a break since she had the flu...and Nathan well I got a shot and for that I should be thankful.

I love this shot of my husband, I don't usually get good shots of him as he doesn't like to pose for me either but since my "toy" is new he will cooperate...hopefully he will fall for the line "I am practicing something" for quite some time to come.

Hope you all had a great Christmas and wishing you all the best in the year to come.

Nice pictures, I am glad you got a nice camera. I am saving up for a better one but, any one would be better than the one I have now. I am glad Christmas is over, You have a nice looking family.

Glad Christmas turned out well for you. The whole commercialism thing is sort of ruining the whole spirit of the season...which is kinda sad.

I feel you on the commercialism thing. I myself got caught up in buying gifts and trying to finish everything on time. Have fun with your new "toy!"
