Vacation to Southern Alberta

I took over 600 photos while away on our little vacation last week so I will just post a few of my faves...

First stop on our trip was the local amusement park. Calaway park opened in 1982 and during my childhoood I went there once. After 1996 I took my children there every summer, but lately we haven't been in awhile. The kids had a blast...I took a few photos of every ride they were on but I won't bore you will all of them just a couple I really like...
Here are some posed shots that I really love...
Connor on the rocks
Brittany on the rocks
The gang with Joelle (Nathan's girlfriend) and Gramma (we have taken a photo on this bridge every summer we have been there since 1996)
Ariel hanging out with Gramma enjoying the sun
Our whole gang
We spent a few hours (well I think one day) hanging out at Gramma's ranch while running to all our other activities...I got a couple great shots there as well...
I love this one of Nathan and Joelle since they weren't looking at me it is the best shot I got of them the whole trip...
The kids all fell in love with this kitten...so much so that they convinced Dad the cat hater to bring it home with us.
Connor and our new kitten Whiskey (at least that is him name at the moment)
One afternoon we headed out to Head Smashed In Buffalo Jump that is less than a half our drive from the ranch. This was one of the highlights of the trip for Connor, he loved the movie they show, strange what children will remember :)

The sun was very bright and Nathan was having a hard time posing for these shots
One of my husband and I
The kids...and yes those are tipis in the background...you can actually camp out in them if you book them.
One of my favourite shots of my girl
Another one of the gang...
Our next trip was to Waterton National Park. Since I have done a post about Waterton already I won't bore you with the same pictures...just a few new ones :) Southern Alberta is known for its high winds...Lethbridge which is only a 1/2 hour drive or so from my mother-in-laws ranch is known as the windy city so they have put up these windmills to harvest the power...this is the closest I have ever gotten to one...
The saying that goes with Waterton is "where prairie meets the mountains". You go from farmer's field to mountains, it is an amazing sight, I think this picture captures it best...
As mentioned in my other Waterton post the only way to see Cameron Lake is by canoe, well my mother-in-law, like myself and my son Nathan can't swim and has a huge fear of water so we thought a paddle boat would be best. So her and Ariel set off in a paddle boat...
But that didn't last long. I guess the guy at the dock was surprised they lasted 15 minutes I guess most people return them after 5...so if you ever go to Cameron Lake don't waste your money on a paddle boat, just hope in a canoe...
Ariel
Joyce
Joelle
Brittany
Nathan
Christohper and Connor
Sorry no photos of me...
Here is the shot of the whole group of us after we rowed to the end...
Ariel wanted this photo to prove to her friends that she went somewhere that still had snow in late August...
Nathan and Joelle
Connor saw a deer in the woods and thought he should go hunting after him...
Brittany
I have many many more photos but these are just some of my faves...maybe someday I will post some more.

We also went to see New West Theatre production in Lethbridge, this is the second show we have seen of this group and they are awesome. It is a musical comedy theatrical performance and it is roll out of your seat funny, and cheap (well I have never really been to any other theatre but I have been told the prices are great). It is well worth the cost and trust me it is awesome.
