Living in the frozen North, spring can be a little slower coming than in other places. Here it is still chilly and there is still snow in places where the sun doesn't shine brightly all day. The lakes are still frozen and you can look out over the dock and see ice for as far as the eye can see. Many people think that spring means the temperature rises drastically, every thing dries up and begins to bloom and that does happen here too, it just takes longer. I think when you have to wait for things you appreciate them more. But have you ever sat and looked at the beauty of things that most days annoy you. I don't mind snow and ice too much (unless I am trying to drive somewhere) but I hate cold. So when spring comes around at least in the begining it is still chilly (and that depends on your idea of chilly my spring temperatures are still colder than some people's winter temperatures) but not so cold that you need a snowsuit and all the gear just to walk to the car. So you are able to go out and see things that are hidden in the winter. This picture is of Connor and I looking off the balcony of the boathouse at the marina. It looks like a cold frozen view to most but to us it is the first time we have been able to really look at the lake in months. It is beautiful to see all the usually blue water all frozen over and icy for miles. In the summer the marina is so busy and full of boats that you don't get to see it this way, it is not the same but beautiful none the less.
Another sign that spring is on it's way is the Canadian Geese have returned home. It is funny to see a bird that flew away before the snow came to be walking on the lake while it is still frozen but none the less a great sign to see them back home.

There are times I am so thankful for the camera I received for Christmas from my wonderful husband. This squirel was way up in the top of the tree.

So yes in some areas there is still snow on the ground, and the temperature is hovering around +5C (41F) but spring is on its way and that means that winter is almost over...and living in a place where it is cold for so many months of the year, winter ending is such a wonderful thing.
Happy Spring to All :)
