On Friday May 1st my baby turned 5...I can't believe he is so old already :( I don't know where all the time went.
At his preschool they are the leader on their birthday (or the day closest to their birthday) so on Friday Connor was the leader and he was so excited, that we left the house without his show and tell :( but he had a great day at school...in the following picture he is being Handy Manny...for those of you who don't know this is Handy Manny...he is a Disney guy...he always wears his gloves and usually a hard hat and he has a tool box full of animated tools and he counts them all in Spanish.

Usually since the child is responsible for snack on their leader day they end up bringing in a cupcake that they light for the kids for their birthdays... Connor worked hard on these cupcakes for his class and when he wished to be a transformer...oh the minds of a child :)
Our policy for birthdays at home is that who ever's birthday it is get to pick what we have for supper and we have a cake or cupcakes for them...well since only Christopher, Connor and I were home for his birthday supper we had an extra special treat...McDonald's. I know what you are thinking but Connor like all children loves McDonalds and we haven't had any since last fall so it was a big treat for him...we had his cupcake and he wished he was Spiderman...oh to have a life that you don't want anything but to be a super hero.
So usually we have family parties for the kids, at least until they are in school. This year was Connor's first year of school so he got to have a friends party. He has 14 kids in his class including himself and 10 of them are girls :) He invited everyone and 6 kids came to his party...all girls :( He had a great time although in the morning he said to me "I don't want all the girls to come they will dress me up and make me play girl games." I told him since we were going to be at the park I think he was safe. It turned out to be a beautiful day and the kids had a great time at the park...oh the advantages to living just down from the park :) I have many more pictures of him and his friends in the park but I don't have permission to post their pictures...here is one that shows what the afternoon was like :)
We had hot dogs and chips in the park for supper (another treat for Connor as he isn't allowed hot dogs) and then it was off to the cake and presents.
Connor saw some masks at Wal-mart and he wanted them so we decided on a Spiderman party...a lot harder than it sounds. We had to drive an hour and a half one way to Lloydminister to get Spiderman guys for his cake, and we didn't pick up anything else because they had them here...until I went to pick them up and of course they were all gone :( Anyway the friend that usually makes cakes was away so I had to create a cake myself...so I had one made at the bakery and decorated it...wasn't bad I guess :)
Connor seemed to like it :)
I have many pictures of the gifts he got but I think this one says it all...the look on his face was the same with every present he opened. He was so excited told his friends they were the greatest the awesome gifts they brought him. He cleaned house with that boy stuff Nerf guns, Star Wars light sabers, Spiderman cars, Lego and Kinex, Bakugon and Pokemon...the boy was in heaven.
Instead of loot bags we had a pinata...or a pintiata as Connor calls it, full of toys and candies. All the kids took a few swings at it...even mom and Ariel took a couple of wacks at it...I thought it was never going to break but then finally the ground was covered in stuff. All Connor cared about was that he got a whistle, he let the girls clean house :) such a gentleman.
