I just finished a book that I never thought in a million years I would read. Lately I have been trying to read outside my comfort zone and pick books that teach me something other than just entertain. Now I don't mean a self-help but but more of a life lessons mixed into a story kind of book. Well I read 'P.S. I Love You' by Cecila Ahern...and the copy of the book I had was two books together and the second book was 'If You Could See Me Now'. Well at first I wasn't sure what was going on in this story, it was kind of interesting but I couldn't put my finger and what it was really about...then it hit me. Well of course by the time I figured it out I was into it, plus I had to know how someone would go about writing an adult book about this subject :)
The main characters of 'If You Could See Me Now' are Elizabeth, Luke and Ivan. Elizabeth is a woman who lived with a mother who would disappear for weeks at a time and when she was 12 or so she left and never returned. Elizabeth also had a baby sister at the time who when her father couldn't care for her anymore he passed the responsibility onto Elizabeth. She finally leaves at 18 leaving behind her 6 year old sister, she goes of and gets her life together and establishes her self to be forced to return and help her sister with an unexpected pregnancy, and she ends up raising the child...Luke, as her sister turns out to be just like her mother...gone most of the time. Elizabeth is very in control of her life, everything must happen according to reschedules and routines, she definitely has OCD, she is obsessed with keeping her life in order...the only thing she has control over. Luke is now 6 and Ivan the picture, something Elizabeth has no idea how to deal with. Ivan Elbisivni is from Ekam Eveileb and he is a professional best friend...if you haven't figured it out yet Ivan is Luke's invisible friend.
I know I hear you, as soon as I figured that out I was wondering what the heck I had got myself into...but trust me when I say that this is actually a very good book. Yes it is out there as it is about something that the majority of adults don't believe in so at times it was difficult to wrap your head around, but it was a sweet, innocent story. This story does have a very valuable lesson in it...that no matter what life throws at you that you can still be happen and enjoy your life. Let go and have some fun some time and it doesn't matter where you live or what you do as long as you are happy inside you can be happy anywhere.
This book is a love story of sorts as Ivan and Elizabeth fall in love with each other but because they are so much alike it is more that they fall in love with themselves which in turn teaches them to be happy with themselves. It is a book that I would have never picked up if I had known what it was really about, but since the back is kind of misleading and I gave it a try I am quite glad I did. If you read it because you are curious how a childish subject can be writen into an adult novel, or just because you believe in the make believe of invisible friends I think this book is awesome.

Sounds like a really interesting book. I should read more out of my comfort zone but sci-fi is so fun!
OOOO I love your book reviews! I'm gonna go look for this book, as soon as I get my local library card (sometime this week).
Thanks for the suggestion!
