Time keeps on slipping, slipping, slipping into the future. Isn't that how the song goes? Well that is how life goes around here, blink and another day is gone and you are wondering where it went. Half of the year is gone already, I can't believe that another month is over and so is another school year...where did the time go.
This month started off with the priviledge to see my daughter and her friends give their final Relational Aggression presentation. For two years these four students have travelled the area giving a presentation to their peers to stop bullying between students. Basically they state there are three types of students Agressors, Targets and K.I.M.s (the kids in the middle). There are two types of K.I.M.s the type that follows along knowing it is wrong and wanting to change, and the kind that follow along because they want to. This presentation shows what life is like not only as a teenager but as an adult as well because many of the situations they discuss are similar to adult situations as well.
If these kids could make change by educating their peers about this behaviour and telling everyone to stand up and say 'stop' that would be a wonderful thing. I hope that they have made a difference in someone's life, change happens one step at a time :) I am so proud of my daughter for going out and doing this and hope as she enters the local high school this fall she remembers these things and tries to stop this behaviour and doesn't allow herself to become part of it.
Then we headed out camping for the weekend...most of the weekend was nice, except one night we had to head in to the trailers early because it was pouring down rain and we had no tarps up yet :( Here are some shots I got while we were there...this one makes you think they actually love each other...well it is a love hate thing :)
This little squirel spent most of the weekend picking up food from our site, even spent some time climbing around in our wash basin...silly little guy :)
The kids having fun at the park...
One of my husband...yes he always look this grumpy :(
I love this shot of the kids walking down to the lake...it was way to cold to swim in as the ice just melted a couple of weeks ago but it is still beautiful and they had a blast throwing rocks.
Next it was Daddy's Day at preschool...no cows were hurt in the making of this blog :)
All the kids and dad's were given a bandana...Connor wore his for days never wanting to take it off. I don't think it really goes with his sherriff shirt but he don't care...
Then it was off to rope the cows...team roping, the kids tossed them and the dads tied them...
Then it was off to the local fish hatery for the last day of preschool. The kids were given butterfly nets and a tank full of minows and they had to catch them and look at them...Connor was so proud of himself :)
Then they moved on to bigger fish...at first they were hard to catch but as they started running out of oxygen they got slower and Connor was able to catch one
It was then time to say good bye to his friends and teachers. It was a sad day although he will see a lot of his friends next year at kindergarten a few of them will be going on to different schools. It was a hard day to say good bye to the teachers as this had been a rough year.
Then lastly we had Ariel's graduation/awards ceremony. Another hard day as her best friend is being posted again this year (this has happened several times over her life, bad part about a military base) Next year she enters a new school, looking for new friends and starting a new chapter in her life and she is scared...but that is what life is all about.
So June has come and gone and with it comes the end of a lot of things, but the start of new. June brings the end of high school for Nathan, the end of Jr. High for Ariel and the end of Preschool for Connor. But it brings the start of a new chapter for them all. Now the summer begins and with it we have camping, swimming, making friends at the beach and of course lots of taxiing for Mom :)
