What To Take When I Go...

I am very fortunate that I live in an area that isn't real prone to natural disasters...although a lot of disasters are man made and those you can't avoid no matter where you live...after all I live in a highly forested area therefore a forest fire would not be out of the realm of possibilities. I lived in Nova Scotia right along the ocean and was fortunate enough that nothing ever happened there until the year after I left, then they were hit with a hurricane. Anyway that being said I haven't spent a lot of time thinking about what I would take with me if I had to evacuate due to a natural disaster and hope that I will never have to worry about it.

If I had to leave and not have time to pack anything I would grab my children including the furry one and run...every thing else I can replace and if not well it is in my heart and I guess that is where it belongs but I can't replace my children...
And of course my camera...can start making new memories :)

If I had time to pack well then my list would be much longer...I would want my husband to grab the server...yes we have so many computers at my house that we have a central server that holds all of our information. On that server is all my photos and my scrapbook pages as well as all of the kids information. Our own personal computers hold very little information but the server holds it all :)

I would grab the boxes of photographs, right now I am in the process of scanning all of my photos and my mother's photos onto CDs but in the meantime I have boxes of pictures dating back to the 1950s and I wouldn't want to lose those if I didn't have to.

There are many things in my home I would not want to live without, like the last gift my father purchased for me before his passing, my babies first shoes, all the arts and crafts that my children have made me over the years, but those are just things and although they can't be replaced they hold a little piece of my heart and that is all that really matters. For me holding on to the photographs, being able to take new photographs and the people are really all that matters.

I love the idea of keeping your memories and the people who help you make them. That's so sweet and very good things to take with you.

Great list! I spent all of 07 scanning in the thousands of photos my dad had at home! Good luck with that!
